A large 'Halsted & Sons, Chichester' stamped cast iron trough.
Established by Charles Halsted in around 1840, Halsted & Sons operated until 1932 forging quality metal goods. They took part in the Great Exhibition, 1851, and were known for quality farm machinery.
This is water tight as the exit hole has been plugged with lead. Can easily be knocked out to allow for drainage.
No cracks or dents, this is in good condition. More than half the price of a stone trough of this size (and less common by my reckoning).
This would make a superb feature.
